The radio station - based in The Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship at the University of Strathclyde - will feature every heat of the competition, with interviews and commentary from some of the world's best musical talent.
Now in its eighth year, the competition is one of the most prestigious events in the international concert calendar, with pianists traveling from Russia, Japan, Spain, France and China to take part.
Mark Sheridan, Director of Celtic Music Radio and Research Coordinator at the University's Department of Creative and Aesthetic Studies, said: "We are delighted to be able to bring the competition's unique festival of music to the radio waves.
"The heats are being broadcast via FM in the Glasgow area as well as over the internet, so for the first time, audiences can tune in no matter where they are in the world.
"The festival showcases some incredible talent and competition looks set to be tough. We'll be broadcasting all the latest news, views and music in a packed programme of events."
The news comes just weeks after Ofcom announced it is to award Celtic Music Radio a licence to operate indefinitely on the AM medium waveband in the Glasgow area. Full-time broadcasting is expected to begin from early 2008.
The competition is being held in Glasgow at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama, and is being chaired by world-renowned trumpeter, John Wallace.
Tune in throughout the Glasgow area on 106.6 FM or anywhere in the world via the internet by logging on to: http://www.celticmusicradio.org.uk/index.html. Events run from now until 15 September 2007.
