Highlights include an exclusive performance of MacMillan's Missa Brevis, written when he was just 17, and the first concert performance of choral works he created for the University's Chamber Choir at the atmospheric Dunkeld Cathedral.
The diverse programme of lunchtime and evening events will also feature talent from the University's Concert Band, Improvisation Ensemble, Big Band, Guitar Ensemble, soloists and Symphony Orchestra.
Alan Tavener, the University's Director of Music, said: "We are delighted to unveil a new season of musical events at Strathclyde, and are particularly pleased to be showcasing new work by one of Scotland's finest composers, James MacMillan.
"The programme offers live entertainment for everyone with its cool classics, innovative jazz, outstanding young flute, viola, cello and trumpet soloists, and The Big Guitar Weekend, the ever-popular mini-festival of wall-to-wall guitar entertainment.
"We will also see Scotland's foremost saxophonist, Stewart Forbes, giving a taste of his forthcoming solo album and internationally recognized guitarist Peter Argondizza will launch his second solo CD."
The season begins on Tuesday 25 September with 'Poland in Scotland,' a lunchtime performance of Polish music by Scots pianist Brian Davidson at the University's Ramshorn Theatre.
