The course was organised to assist students and teachers with the AS and A2 Welsh syllabus. Among those taking part were Chief Poet Ceri Wyn Jones whose cywyddau form part of the curriculum. Cywyddau were also under discussion in another session led by Dr Sara Elin Roberts, this time by the major poet of the Middle Ages, Dafydd ap Gwilym whose poems recently appeared in digital form on the Dafydd ap Gwilym.net website.
Pupils attended from all parts of north Wales -- from Ysgol Morgan Llwyd in Wrexham to Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor in Pwllheli and Dolgellau, from Ysgol Glan Clwyd in St Asaph to Ysgol Tryfan in Bangor, from Ysgol Berwyn in Bala to Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern on Anglesey.
According to Professor Gerwyn Wiliams, Head of the School of Welsh: "We had an excellent day and it was great to see Pritchard Jones Hall full of pupils and students following AS and A2 courses. This annual event is an important feature of our links with secondary schools and colleges and the response we received was extremely positive."
