SeeByte, founded in 2001, spun-out of the University’s Ocean Systems Laboratory, and specialises in open software architecture which enables data from multiple, distributed sensors to be integrated and combined into a single integrated picture of a situation or surroundings. This ‘situation awareness software’ has experienced rapid growth in the Offshore and Defence industries, from war fighters in Iraq to underwater vehicles in the Atlantic. The company has recently signed several new technology licensing deals with Heriot-Watt.
Des Browne said it was good to see SeeByte was developing some extremely innovative products and competing successfully in a highly sophisticated marketplace.
SeeByte founding CEO, said, “Our strategy has been to listen closely to market demands and focus carefully on the key capabilities our customers actually need. We have recently launched our offshore product to industry acclaim and received further orders from the US Navy. As a result, our SeeTrack software platform is emerging as an industry leader in the underwater marketplace, turning sensor data into actionable information for people and machines.”
