Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS)证书是在2007年11月1日推出的，是英国反对核扩散义务的重要组成部分之一。它的出现是为了控制有关大规模杀伤性武器及其运载工具扩散的知识和技术的传播。旨在保证那些申请某些敏感学科课程的学生不会获得潜在的关于大规模杀伤性武器及其运载工具扩散的知识。
某些课程在学生申请签证时需要提供ATAS证书，所以大家要提前申请，避免由于没有ATAS证书影响签证申请的情况。
哪些学生申请英国签证时需要提供ATAS证书？
A.攻读教授型硕士课程的学生，欧洲经济区及瑞士的本土学生不需要申请ATAS证书;其他学生中，如果你要攻读的课程在以下范围内，则需要申请：
· F2 – Materials Science
· F3 – Physics (including Nuclear Physics)
· H3 – Mechanical Engineering
· H4 – Aerospace Engineering
· H8 – Chemical, Process and Energy Engineering
· J5 – Materials Technology not otherwise specified
B.攻读哲学或其他学科博士课程的学生，欧洲经济区及瑞士的本土学生不需要申请ATAS证书，其他学生中，如果你要攻读的课程代码在以下范围内，则需要申请：
