Crisis is the best reason to reform. In 2009 Adidas made a fundamental adjustment to the global framework. The past continents' headquarters were changed and the managing level was compressed. According to market characteristics, the global market was divided into six regions, that is, Western European market, European emerging market, North American market, Greater China market, other Asian markets and Latin American market. Moreover, channel transformation was performed by Adidas in worldwide scope, laying more emphasis on self-support stores' establishment. Because the rate of margin of Adidas whole trade is 41.6% in 2009, but retail trade's gross profit rate is 58.6%, obviously being as self-support stores, the retail business should be strived to develop.As a matter of fact, confronting the crisis, the regulations that Adidas actually did as a whole in these two years in China are two things: reduction and depreciation. All of these are related to the regulations of channels and distributors.To begin with, Adidas adjusted the dealers' team, allowing cooperative enthusiasm losing dealers to quit from Adidas system and help them to deal with tedious quitting formalities patiently. Then help dealers who was willing to continue cooperation with Adidas, to over the hump. Therefore, Adidas' strategy that there is no depreciation, no discount to master brands, was finally changed. Dealers of some partial areas were allowed to open discount stores to digest inventory, even in some cities, discount stores were allowed to open in places with a distance of several hundred meters from flagship stores. We also formulate a strategic policy in the second half of 2010. The pattern of "old stock changing for the new" was adopted so as to reduce the inventory level above a more healthy and steady standard, so our channel partners could use their old inventory to change our new inventory.Adidas knew that the mode of relying too much on distribution channels was risky. But the risk can't be solved by simple "shock therapy", to increase channel types is a solution. TAO BAO Mall's authorization by Adidas is a pattern to enrich channels, and the more basic problem is how to develop channels' loyalty and the real dominating power towards the channels.There is no principle change in cooperation model between dealers and us compared with the past, and the only difference is that our cooperation is more closed. Some indicators were adopted to weigh, for example their purchasing method, their end-consumer selling's sold out rate, their own shops' investment, and how shops could be operated more professionally and efficiently. We are different from other brands in these aspects.Chinese market's importance is self-evidence. Recently, Adidas group's chief executive officer came to China frequently, and claimed that China is "our star market" after 2011 Semi-annual Earnings was issued. He said that in the next five years we will mold an exciting ideal brand for Chinese consumers so as to realize qualitative growth. He is fully convinced that the greater China area will be the primary impetus for Adidas group's prospective progression.
