The Sage community has a very open based course project plan that works incredibly well in today's new computer driven world. They have a very enticing Sage developer community, very open and welcoming to all interested in contributing . All newcomers are welcomed to assist in improving or contributing in any way possible that they are able and wish to contribute.Sage is able to give students and other Sage developers a fantastic chance to see their hard work in a real working, supportive environment. All work is reviewed by their peers, all functions have to be logged in and tested multiple times on several systems to prove their validity. . The base language used with Sage is Python. The source code revision system used with Sage is Mercurial. Large scale projects and many other small ones all use these same tools also.The mailing lists are a very supportive, responsive, helpful as well as integral part of Sage development; as is the highly active IRC channel for Sage developers. These include many from the mathematics and the professional communities. One main Sage developer is a retired Apple kernel engineer. Some are graduate students and under grads students. They come from all over the world; programing , mathamatic, and the like communities.The motto with the Sage developer is "release early, release often". All in the program try to stick by that motto. They like to see their work in real time, real life programs and code. especially the students.That means that the codes are released every 3-4 weeks. Students are able to see their work several times before the semester is over. All types of contributions are welcomed at Sage, but they are screened to make sure that the system does not get over loaded and disorganized.
