UCE Birmingham is offering students with an LS, S, NG or LE postcode a limited number of Open Day travel cost reimbursements on a first come, first served basis. The Open Days take place on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th October and students can register for the event and to reclaim their travel costs online at www.uce.ac.uk.
The initiative is designed to encourage students to take the plunge, visit the University’s Perry Barr Campus and see what UCE Birmingham and the UK’s second city have to offer.
Kim Langford, Assistant Director of Corporate Marketing at UCE Birmingham, said: “We always recruit a lot of students from these areas and we see them as potential growth markets for the future.
“We’re confident that once students see UCE Birmingham for themselves and find out what we can do for them and their career, they’ll be keen to join us!”
UCE Birmingham is a vibrant, multi-cultural university with an excellent reputation for quality, student-focused courses and strong partnerships with industry and the professions that ensure courses equip graduates with the skills and qualifications demanded by today’s job market.
At the heart of next month’s Open Days will be a wide range of activities, exhibitions and presentations giving visitors the chance to meet staff and students, find out more about the University and learn about the extensive range of courses.
Guided tours of the Perry Barr Campus will show off UCE Birmingham’s facilities and on-site student accommodation, while coaches will take visitors out to the new £30 million Faculty of Health facilities at Westbourne Road, the Technology Innovation Centre at Millennium Point, the Hamstead Halls of Residence and on a whirlwind trip around city highlights.
UCE Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (BIAD) will also throw open the doors to its campus at Gosta Green, at the School of Jewellery in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter, at the Department of Art and at the Bournville Centre for Visual Arts.
The University’s current crop of students will again play a major role in the Open Day, welcoming visitors to the Students’ Union for a host of fun, interactive activities and a chat about what student life is really like.
