As a new Honorary Fellow to the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) and one of our highest profile commentators on popular culture, Stephen
is keen to stimulate debate about the role of design in society and how it influences the way we live.
This reflects the purpose of the Cardiff Design Festival which was launched three years ago to celebrate and promote the very best of Welsh design.
The launch event is being held to publicise the next Design Festival which will take place in October 2008 and will include a wide range of events for designers, the business community and the general public.
There will be a programme of inspirational speakers, seminars, workshops and exhibitions. It will include a showcase of the very best of Welsh design, demonstrating the quality and diversity of the sector.
2008 will be especially significant in the development of the Cardiff Design Festival, putting it up amongst the most significant design events world-wide as the city will be hosting the Design Management Europe Award (DME Award) at the Wales Millennium Centre and the International Design Conference.
