Three students from Gray's School of Art at The Robert Gordon University have won a competition to produce original paintings for display at the offices of Meston Reid & Co, Chartered Accountants, based at Carden Place, Aberdeen.Four original paintings were chosen by Meston Reid & Co and prizes totalling £2000 have been distributed between the three students whose work was selected. The winners were Paul Lowther (27), from Kirkcaldy, Steven Smith (23), from Livingstone, and Margaret Livingstone (44), from Brechin, the latter having two pieces of work selected.
The students were asked to base their paintings on the theme of currency and the winning pieces were selected by a judging panel consisting of representatives from Meston Reid & Co and academic staff from Gray’s School of Art.
The competition was open to all students in the second and third year of the Fine Art course at Gray's and there were over twenty artworks submitted for consideration.
Michael Reid, Managing Partner of Meston Reid & Co, said, 'Meston Reid & Co are delighted to support students at Gray's School of Art in this way and I look forward to the excellent pieces which the winning artists have produced hanging in the office for many years to come. The paintings have produced favourable comment by many visitors to the office and being able to hang originals on the wall adds to the quality of the presentation.'
