The No.20 is a public service that will run hourly Monday to Friday all year round and can be used by the local community as well as by University staff and students.
The No.20 is the only bus service to run directly from Kingsthorpe to Northampton General Hospital and one of only a handful of routes serving the Hospital regularly during the daytime.
There are also improvements to the existing No.21 bus service, operated by MK Metro and funded by The University of Northampton and Northamptonshire County Council. A revised timetable will be in operation from Monday, September 24, which will feature an extended evening service, No.21E, with all year round provision, rather than just during University term time.
During the daytime the No.21 connects the University and Kingsthorpe to Northampton town centre, bus station and railway station, with services to Dallington, Rye Hill, Duston and Harpole, and links to Moulton Park and Round Spinney during the weekday morning and afternoon commuting times. It is a public service which can be used by the local community, as well as by University staff and students and runs Monday to Saturday.
The new combined-route evening service, No.21E, will commence from Saturday, September 22, offering a direct link between The University of Northampton, Kingsthorpe, Northampton town centre, bus station, Northampton General Hospital and Abington. The service will run Monday to Saturday all year round.
Paul R Taylor, Sustainability Officer, Estates Services, The University of Northampton, commented:
''The new No.20 service and the developments of the existing No.21 route will improve accessibility in Northampton for both of our University Campuses, for the General Hospital and for the local community, and increase travel options within the town.''
Representatives from Stagecoach, MK Metro, Northamptonshire County Council and Northampton General Hospital will be at the bus service launch at The University of Northampton at 11am, Monday, September 17.
