The trips, organised by the Students’ Union and the International office at UCLan, have taken students to see the mountains of the Lake District, the fun and lights of Blackpool and a rather dismal Preston North End showing against Colchester.
250 students, mainly from China, were taken to Grassmere in the Lake District on Saturday September 1.
They spent the day walking around the lakes, discovering the quaint tea shops and seeing a film about the Lake District at Rheged Centre in Penrith.
Huang Hui, 23, a business student, said: “It's been a great trip. Everything is fresh to me, it has an unforgettable experience that I will remember forever. Thank you UCLan.”
Students’ Union equal-opportunities officer, Emma Cresswell-Maynard, who helped organise the trips is happy with how they have gone.
She said: “The aim of the trips was to create an opportunity for the students to experience English culture and help them settle into university and Preston quicker.
“Students seem to be enjoying the trips and it’s been a successful couple of weeks. It gives them a chance to get to know the Students’ Union and what it does.”
International resources manager at UCLan, Tim Steele, said: “All the trips have gone well and it’s been a chance for all the students to see what Lancashire has to offer.”
