me: Good morning, Sir.
vo: hi, how are you.
me: good, just a little bit cold here.
vo: oh. cold.......
vo: so what are you going to do in US?
me: I'm going to study my PHD in Univ of ***
vo: en, what's your major?
me: en, they wrote ***** on my form, but actually it's *****, relating to
linguistics and pedagogy.
vo: hum, how do you know this univ?
me: en...my research interest concentrates in *****, I think every one in
this field knows this univ. it's quite famours. My master advisor knows
some profs in this univ, and I also met the chair on an international
confrence last year in Shanghai.
vo: oh, you are a Chinese teacher for foreigners?
me: yeah, hehehe, I heard visa officers can speak very good Chinese.
vo: {he gave me a very big smile, then, said in CHinese} 还好。
vo: {smile} how long have you worked?
me: three years.
vo: en.....*************
PAY! who will pay for your study?
me: oh....... 笑着说,oh, they gave me full aid. teaching
assistantship.
vo: ok, that's good. what's your plan after graduation?
me: I want to come back to be a professor. to be honest, the teaching
method in China is.....en .....somewhat boring. I really hope to develop
an
interactive style of teaching method. I mean, language teaching method.
vo: en. so you will come back to china?
me: yeah, definitely.
vo: will you come back to this univ?
me: hummmmm, it's not definite.......I hope to go to a better one, a
leading Univ.
vo: en. so you will still teaching chinese for foreigners?
me: en....it will be just part of my job. I want to be a graduate advisor.
他问:what did you bring with
you?
me: oh, I brought my letter of admission, and the offer letter from the
department. I am sorry the formal letter has not arrived yet, so I just
printed out the email. I also have my
CV and PS here, would you like to have a look?
vo: 点头,ok, let me see. ....
ok, I need to check the SEVIS system. please go there to take a seat. I'll
call you back.
me: ok, thank you.
