Torres del Paine is among the biggest of Chiles national parks, occupying almost 600,000 acres (242,000 ha) of land in the south on the border with Argentina. It is also among the most important, receiving a significant proportion of domes Like any American, traveling occasionally is just what I love doing and I bet you share the same stuff with me. But traveling does not mean that you would be safe. Escaping from our job and other stressful activities is just something that w
Grand Canyon tour helicopters make for great getaways. The rides are thrilling and a lot of fun. But it's the ability to fly over some of the most magnificent wilderness that makes them exceptional. The South Rim in particular is simply filled with amazing views. This rim is located in Arizona west of Flagstaff and north of Phoenix and Sedona. Don't confuse this rim with the West Rim, which is located 120 miles east of Las Vegas. Here is an important tidbit you should know about the rims. It is possible to fly to the canyon floor, but you have to do that by taking a chopper out of Vegas since helicopters are not permitted to fly below the rim at the South Rim. LogisticsIn addition, you should know you can't fly between the rims. And if you're in Las Vegas and you want to do the South Rim, I recommend you book one of the direct airplane flights. Be sure to choose the fifty minute air tour if you can when you go to the South Rim. It is a fantastic deal because that tour lets you see about 75 percent of the entire Park. The 50-minute tour takes off from the National Park airport and goes east along the south rim until you reach Desert Watchtower, a landmark that demarcates that you've reached the Park's eastern boundary. Colorado RiverThen your tour heads north over the canyon where you'll be treated to many breathtaking sights. On the way to the remote North Rim, you will pass over the Colorado River confluence. The trip comes to a stunning conclusion as you fly through the Dragoon Corridor, the widest, deepest section of the Canyon. You'll also see a bird's eye view of Grand Canyon Village. If you want to spend less money, take the 30 minute tour and you'll still get to see the Dragoon Corridor as you fly to the North Rim and back to the South Rim. Although the tour doesn't last as long, it still offers plenty of fabulous views. Flying At SunsetThe other South Rim helicopter tour I like is one that includes a sunset Jeep tour. The flight itself takes off during the late afternoon and is basically the 30-minute tour. When the flight portion of the tour is over, you get in a Jeep and head for the perfect spot to watch a glorious sunset over the canyon. You have to arrange your own transportation to the airport when you take a helicopter tour of the South Rim. If you don't have your own transportation, you can make arrangements at the Bright Angel Lodge or other inn at Grand Canyon Village. Bring along your government-issued ID and be sure to get to the airport thirty minutes early. Dress in dark clothing and bring along your camera or smart phone, just make sure it is fully charged. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes so you'll be comfortable all during your tour. SummaryThis sums up information about Grand Canyon helicopter tours to the South Rim. Remember, there are two choices, the fifty minute flight and the half hour flight. They are both great, so choose the one that fits in with your time requirements and budget. If you have a bit of both, then I strongly recommend you take the longer tour because the more air time the better. Article Tags: Grand Canyon, National Park
