Like any American, traveling occasionally is just what I love doing and I bet you share the same stuff with me. But traveling does not mean that you would be safe. Escaping from our job and other stressful activities is just something that w Torres del Paine is among the biggest of Chiles national parks, occupying almost 600,000 acres (242,000 ha) of land in the south on the border with Argentina. It is also among the most important, receiving a significant proportion of domes
Peru is a fascinating country, with three entirely different types of travel destination, and Peru travel packages reflect that diversity. Above all is the legendary ruins, still being rediscovered, each a treasure left behind by ancient civilizations for the whole human race. Nature has lavished its own gifts upon this country, which has beaches, rain forests, and snowy mountain peaks, with sporting tourism available for each. Finally, there the Peruvian urban life, both the towns recalling the Spanish colonial past and the thriving metropolis that is Lima. Without doubt the country's most famous destination is The Citadel of Machu Picchu. The spiritual heart of the Inca civilization, it still exudes a powerful spiritual presence. Built largely of limestone, it was once a walled structure home to as man as ten thousand people. The Citadel of Machu Picchu waited hundreds of years in the heart of the Cusco rain-forest until the modern world uncovered it a century ago. No one knows how the Incas moved the huge limestone blocks through the Cusco and up the mountain to construct the site. Such mystery enhanced its reputation in the decades since its discovery. Peru is cut through with 23,000 kilometers of Inca walking trails, the most famous of which is the 43 kilometer path to Machu Picchu. Each year, 25,000 travelers walk the path to the Citadel. But Machu Picchu, for all its world-wide renown, is only part of the archaeological riches of Peru, and, constructed in the 15th Century, it is far from the most ancient. Possibly constructed as long ago as 1100 BCE, the Chavin de Huantar Complex is likely the most ancient stone town in the country. Within a space thought to have served as a courtyard, a series of carved heads are the Complex's most famous feature. Archaeologists believe the heads represent shamans entranced into a state trough consuming hallucinatory plants. Peruvian vacations also offer more than mystic archaeology. It is home to the Callejo de Huaylas, nicknamed "the South American Switzerland" for its white-capped Andean mountain ranges. These mountains, however, are home to high-elevation turquoise lakes. At sea level, the Amazon rain forest offers spectacular wildlife and flowering plants. In the Pacaya Samiria and Allpahayo Mishana areas one might make contact with aboriginal tribesmen. Those who prefer water sport can visit the Ballestas Islands. There, one can enjoy deep sea fishing and wind surfing. The islands have also become a well-known scuba diving destination. The natural wonders of this fascinating South American country literally reach from the sea floor to the mountain peaks, with ancient sites from diverse indigenous peoples dotting the countryside. Appropriate to a country so alert to its prehistory, the Peruvian colonial history is beautifully preserved. One of the country's underestimated pleasures is its numerous colonial-era towns and neighborhoods, rich in Old Spanish flavor. Meanwhile, Lima is a metropolitan area of eight and a half million people. It proudly calls itself home to oldest university in all the New World, which speaks to the sophistication one might find in this, the fifth largest city in Latin America. Lima's central location makes it an excellent departure point for any number of Peru travel packages. Article Tags: Peru Travel Packages, Peru Travel, Travel Packages, Most Famous, Machu Picchu
