Although there are many airlines companies in India that are providing best services, yet following three have a special mark in Indian domestic aviation sector.1. Kingfisher airlines- Kingfisher Airlines is the key player in the Indian aviation market. Established in 2005, it has since then gone on to become the leader. Its first flight was from Mumbai to Delhi. It is the first airline to receive a 5star rating from Skytrax. It carried more than a million passengers in May 2009, giving it the highest market share among all the air carriers in the country. The airline is owned and controlled by Dr. Vijay Mallya, the chairman and MD of the UB group, the parent company of kingfisher airlines. It is the first to have in flight entertainment even on domestic flights. 2. Jet Lite- JetLite is the low cost carrier of the Jet airways and like Jet, is based in Mumbai too. It has flights which connects 110 destinations in India. This low cost carrier also provides helicopters on chartered basis. It was established on 20 September 1991 and commenced operations in December 1993 as Air Sahara. But in 2006, it was bought out by jet airways for about $340 million. After the acquisition it was renamed as jet lite and became the budget carrier of jet airways. It has repositioned itself as a low cost carrier through attractive low fares. Till February 2010, it had 19 aircrafts in service and 9 pending orders. As the ticket price is cheap, complimentary meals are not provided, though you have an option of buying them. Kathmandu and Colombo are the two overseas destinations covered by Jet Lite. 3. Paramount airways- This Chennai based airline mainly targets the business class travelers. Its hub is the Chennai international airport. Its flights mainly cover the cities of India. It has the distinction of offering business class facilities to its fliers at the rates of the economy class tickets of rival airlines. The carrier was initiated in October 2005 by the Madurai based textile group; The Paramount Group. Presently it has flight to 16 cities in India. In the year 2010, it has plans of venturing into the international market and has Europe on its radar. With 5 aircrafts operating, it has committed to buying more aircrafts. This is one carrier to watch out for.
