Like any American, traveling occasionally is just what I love doing and I bet you share the same stuff with me. But traveling does not mean that you would be safe. Escaping from our job and other stressful activities is just something that w Torres del Paine is among the biggest of Chiles national parks, occupying almost 600,000 acres (242,000 ha) of land in the south on the border with Argentina. It is also among the most important, receiving a significant proportion of domes
If you want to explore the Cordillera Central of Costa Rica, do not miss out on a Poas Volcano tour! This stratovolcano is split into two craters, one active and one non-active. It also supports two very different lakes and ecosystems as one lake is extremely high in acidity and the other a crystal clear lake surrounded by lush flora. Throughout the day you will be able to fully appreciate the biodiversity of Costa Rica´s rich Cordillera Central Mountain range and valleys while still being able to return to the city for dinner and some dancing! Most tours start from San Jose and make a quick stop in Alajuela, the birthplace of Juan Santamaria, a legendary national hero who died while defending Costa Rica´s freedom. A drummer boy who had little chance against the mercenary army in the infamous April 1856 event sacrificed himself for the country in exchange for the state to give a pension to his mother! The town now proudly shows a statue and information about this hero who now has even the international airport named after him! You will continue on your journey climbing the 8800 foot summit and into the cloud forests of the southern side of the mountain. The awe-striking beauty of the scenery of the main crater is overwhelming as you stand next to one of the largest craters in the world in a misty wonderland. Your tour guide will explain the biodiversity of the surrounding cloud forests, lush foliage and history of the volcano. In January 2009 Poas was near the epicenter of an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 that killed over 40 people. But oddly, its eruptive activity has little history of human injury, reassuring that this is a safe and comfortable place to visit. In 2009, Paos Volcano had online minor phreatic eruptions and landslides on its northern active crater. There were no casualties and the show the mountain put on included extremely beautiful geyser-like formations from the crater´s northern lake known as Laguna Caliente. In the crater there are two separate lakes. In the northern crater sits Laguna Caliente which is one of the worlds most acidic lakes with a pH just above 0! Thus the lake has no aquatic life as almost nothing can sustain life at this pH and altitude. On the southern side of the crater sites Lake Botos. It is part of the inactive crater that has not erupted in nearly 10,000 years. After a wonderful morning of exploring the crater and its surroundings, tours will provide lunch and then take you down through some of the famous towns and villages of the area. You will be able to visit the great metallic church in Grecia. Every piece of the church was constructed in Europe and then taken apart, shipped and reassembled piece by piece in this small Costa Rican town. You will also get a chance to visit Sarchi, a village infamous for it´s wood craftsman. You will have time to explore the shops of these world class artisans and see them in action before you finally start on your return trip to San Jose. This tour is a combination of culture and ecological wonder for any Costa Rica Vacationer. It will give you a great taste of Costa Rica and leave you full of fantastic photos and memories to take home with you.
