Drug dependence can be awful. It becomes a problem which leaves you craving more. So it is with Damages, the TV series that has allowed Glenn Close to receive an Emmy and Golden Globe for her starring role. The writers, Daniel Zelma and brothers Glenn and Todd Kessler, eljko Ivanek, Ted Danson, and Rose Byrne all have received various nominations.Glenn Close plays Patty Hewes, the lawyer from Hewes and Associates. She, again, is the person you love to hate, a part she portrays so well. And then Ellen Parsons, played by Rose Byrne, shows up. She's a recent graduate who many firms scout, but prefers to work for Patty Hewes. Their personalities are opposite from each other, but neither wants to be controlled. As these characters evolve, you see some amazing performances. The show has a dizzying array of flashbacks, forwards, and events happening now. Each moment is often an important piece of the plot so it is not a show you can miss without losing something. You have to stay on your toes to follow the zigzags all along the way. A keen eye is also important. For instance, take a good look at Saffron's collar when Ray Fiske does in the pilot. There are times when a character will only be on the show for a moment, but they may come back later. You should be aware that at least one person you like will be gone. You never know who will return for the next in the series. There are thirteen programs in the first season, and some of the best actors will likely not be in the second season, except in flashbacks. Now, I ask will my addiction continue? Is it possible for material of this caliber to continue being produced? Could there be enough plot surprises to sustain any more seasons? We can only wish. TV will lose one of the best series to debut on the small screen in years if the writers and producers can match the quality of the first season in the second. One suggestion I have for viewers, if you can, I recommend investing in a TV that supports high definition so you can enjoy Damages in the highest quality sound and picture. Comcast also offers High Speed Internet service and Digital Voice. Now I can research all my favorite shows and download music and video much faster that I did with my old dsl service. Plus, with Comcast Digital Voice I can make crystal clear calls nationwide with out paying long distance charges. I only have to pay one monthly flat rate for all three great services by taking advantage of the Comcast HD Triple Play bundle. The best promotion is available on the Internet. If you need HD digital cable, fast broadband High Speed Internet, or flat-rate Digital Voice service I can't suggest Comcast more highly.
