One of the toughest parts after becoming an au pair can be meeting people and making friends. Even if you are staying with a family, life as an care taker can be alone, especially at first few days. This happens mostly with many au pairs who are new to a country and dont know someone outside accept their host family. Even for child caretaker who did proper study, inquired all the correct questions, and acquired a perfect host family, getting familiar to other people around is tough task. Experience and review shared by an au pair at first and in an unknown country: -As myself, I was good when I first moved to Australia as an au pair. I had few friends in the country but no one nearby. I also had a best host family. They always took me out to see the region and presented me to their family and their circle of groups, which was fabulous and very nice of them. But at some point and after some period of time I was well settled and set to make my own friends. I think someday some moment you may also be in a same condition and wondering about how to come across people. Here are three ways that how and from where I made friends as an Au Pair: 1. Language class - I cant mention it enough. Many close friendships are made through language classes. The courses I signed up for were pretty boring. But I made some lovely and long-lasting friendships during my language classes. Granted that once if you make friends then you may pass more time bouncing rather than being present in the class which reflects me as a warning sometimes. You will sometimes feel pretty likely to have stepped out from your comfort area to meet new people or make new friends, but I should say thanks to the language school as it is a great route to meet and make new friends. 2. Visiting church As in Sydney, I met many great people visiting a church daily through Bible studies at one of the colleges in the town. And consider it or not, several people were really very cool and not crazy Bible-readers. 3. Just get out from there Occasionally you just have to come out to talk with people. And although it can be threatening, you can make many great friends by getting over yourself and talking to outsiders. One of my close friends and I made some great friends by going out and conversing with strangers at our favorite places of hangouts. We chose to talk with people who looked like having enjoyable (fun) nature, and we made good friends this way, even in Sydney.
