A car accident in Washington state cost the life of a motherWednesday morning but her daughters managed to survive. It was thanks to herfour-year-old that she and her sister survived the fatal early morning caraccident by keeping warm under a blanket while it rained for approximately sixhours until a passerby stumbled upon them and helped. At approximately 2 a.m., the accident happened in a remotearea of the state near the Pacific Coast while it rained. It was not untilafter 8 a.m. that another driver noticed the accident. Officials attribute the survival of the girls to thefour-year-olds ability to get her and her two-year-old sister out of thevehicle and take cover under a blanket, per KING5. State Troopers stated thatboth of the girls had been hurt in the accident. As an inspecting driver traveled past the site of theaccident, small details in the arrangement of nature told him something waswrong and prompted him to inspect the area. There was a fresh cut in the barkof a tree along the road with and orange gash, an aberration to the gray natureof the woods. Then beyond the gash he noticed a wreck. Troopers identified the 26-year-old as Jessica Rath, whoagainst her husbands advice decided to head to Portland. An initial look intothe case by troopers suggests that Jessica may have fallen asleep behind thewheel while traveling at highway speeds.
