Russian-French artist Rina Lazar combines digital technology with bright colors and expansive shapes to create a unique take on abstract expressionism, which she has coined “expressionism of the 21st century.” Just as music has long shaped popular culture, Lazar believes strongly in the tremendous impact of visual art on the formation of consciousness and human thinking. Thus, her art is meant to be sweeping in scope and profound in meaning, achieved via a masterful sense of composition and palette.Like her predecessor, the American artist Georgia O’Keefe, Lazar’s art is infused with a special feminine mystique and a subconscious eroticism that speaks of the underlying realm that every human inevitably inhabits. But through the work, she also strives to bridge the cultural gaps present in our modern times, to inspire her viewers to transcend the trappings of technology and modernity that confront us all. As Lazar explains, “I would like through my artwork to convey the unity of diversity in God’s creation and to try to influence people’s minds, to awaken in them a sense of beauty, joy, and harmony.”Rina Lazar currently lives and works in Paris, France.
