But are they really cool, fascinating, fantabulous, and interesting for our health? Do they not harm us in any way? Well, when it comes to movies, the only health concern that instantaneously catches our attention is our eyesight.Do the 3D movies have any serious ill-effect on the human eyes? Well, when the technology had just hit the theatres, people had several complains like headaches and mild eye discomfort, some people even felt queasy after watching a movie show. This is why; the technology could not become a big hit then. But with time, technology improved and thus the problems were overcome. However, some people who have eye muscle imbalance still have to face certain minor issues. The trouble that takes place is due to the depth perception. Human brain finds it easy to handle the normal films but when it comes to 3D viewing, there is a possibility that it needs more concentration as well as more stress on the muscle. Though no studies have yet been conducted on the issue, some people have faced severe discomfort after viewing 3D movies. However, in a small study conducted by the University of California, Berkeley, it has been found that people who do not have any eye muscle imbalance problems may also face minor issues viewing three dimensionally created movies. The reason behind the discomfort as found by the study is that our brain and eyes have their own way of perceiving the images. When we look at the near by objects, convergence of our pupils take place and when we look at distant objects, there is a divergence. However, our eyes have to keep focusing in each of the cases. Now when we look at 3D objects, the way in which our brain and eyes work gets altered leading to a confused state for our brain. This creates a stressful environ for our brain to work which causes fatigue and headaches. The professor of optometry and vision, Martin Banks, Ph.D., of University of California, Berkeley, the man behind the study found that Avatar hadnt any complains related to eye discomfort because it made the viewers to focus on only one object. But the 3D TVs may create slight discomfort. But it doesnt mean all viewers will have to face issues related to eyesight. If you have not found any trouble watching 3D movies till now then you shouldnt worry and enjoy watching your favorite 3D flicks but if you have had any trouble in the past, it is advisable to consult a doctor before going to the cinema and it would be better if you do not invest your money in buying a 3D TV set.
