Services are offered to schools, parents, staff, and the community in the forms of curriculum, which are lessons that are specially made to help the students develop the skills that will help meet each students needs. It also provides services for prevention and intervention as well as ISPs to help the students meet their yearly goals. Counseling continuing education classes can help you learn how to prepare those ISPs for individual students. School counseling programs include counseling for individual students, teachers and their families, community resource referrals, psychiatric help, and intervention. These counselors are taught ways to help keep these meetings confidential so that intervention can take place quickly and confidentially. Most U.S. public schools require the counselor to have advanced degrees in topics such as Human Growth and Development, Group and Individual Counseling, Social and Cultural Foundations, Testing, Professional Orientation, and Career Development, just to name a few. Licensure and renewal programs in all these subjects are offered through counseling continuing education classes.
