A new version of the computer virus Flame, suspected to be a cyber weapon United States and Israel would have used during the summer of 2010 against Iran's nuclear program, was spotted in computers in Iran, Lebanon and France, said some security experts. The Russian publisher of Antivirus software, Kaspersky Lab, credited with the discovery of Flame, called this new version, miniFlame. They describe it as "a small and highly flexible malicious program, designed to steal data and control infected systems during targeted cyber espionage operations." MiniFlame could be based on "the same structural platform that Flame", which can operate independently or with his "big brother", the latter being designed for "massive cyber espionage operations."Kaperski Lab currently estimates 50 to 60 the number of attacks using miniFlame in the world, particularly in Lebanon, France, United States, Iran or Lithuania. According to experts, the program was developed from 2007 and used until the end of 2011. "We believe that the developers of MiniFlame have created dozens of changes to the program since its creation" said Kaspersky. Article Tags: Cyber Espionage
