Some unofficial preliminary specifications and pictures have already been leaked to whet the appetite of HTC fans, and smartphone and gadget enthusiasts in general.A massive 4.3 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen is at the centre of the handset, boasting the ability to display up to 16M colours within the confines of its pixel resolution of 480x 800. Obviously as the name suggests, high definition display of images and video will give users the chance to view their multimedia files as they were intended. Other specifications of the screen include an accelerometer sensor, optical trackpad and multi-touch input method. It also appears that the highly customisable HTC Sense UI will make a reappearance. As with several other recent HTC handsets, this allows multiple homescreens to be customised with apps and widgets as well as themes and colour schemes. The customisation side of things does not stop there, with the option to utilise MP3 files as ringtones, which will work alongside vibration to alert users to incoming calls and messages. For storage of data such as media files, it appears that 4GB of internal storage will be provided as standard; however there will also be expandable storage in the form of a micro SD card slot which can accommodate a card of up to 32GB. Several connectivity options will be included as standard. Cellular networks will be provided courtesy of GPRS and EDGE in class 10 versions, as with the standard HTC Desire. The same goes for HSDPA and Wi-Fi internet connectivity. Of course, a smartphone with HD in the title is sure to feature an impressive digital camera. This is certainly the case with the HTC Desire HD. An 8MP camera which operates at a pixel resolution of 3264x 2448 is provided as standard which also boasts the ability to shoot 720p (HD) video footage). Autofocus, dual-LED flash, geo-tagging and even face tracking are all included as standard. The HTC Desire HD will also see the arrival of Android 2.2 (Froyo). In conjunction with the same 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor that served the standard Desire so well, it promises to provide top spec performance, allowing demanding applications to be run with ease and at great speeds. As you would expect from any Android smartphone, all the bells and whistles are included as standard such as loads of multimedia features, social networking integration and GPS. With an impending release date, HTC fans are eager to get a glimpse of the finished product, and it seems certain it will not disappoint.
