The government of India is proceeding on the way to change the image of the country. The government has launched many welfare schemes for the general public and from the day of the governance of BJP government, many welfare scheme launched to provide benefits to facilitate the people belongs to lower segments of the society.To provide a housing facility, the government has launched Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana which is dedicated to lower segment people of the nation. The scheme was launched earlier in 2015 with name Housing for All by 2022. Further the scheme named changed into Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.The scheme is launched for both urban as well as for rural areas.For rural areas, the scheme named as Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana. The scheme launched to achieve a target of constructing 1 crore permanent houses for rural people. Under the scheme, the government has aimed to provide a pucca house to all rural people who are not able to afford their dream house.This rural housing scheme was approved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a cabinet meeting held on 23 March 2015.A limit has triggered to complete the construction work of the scheme. According to the information, the implementation process of rural housing scheme will be achieved by the government within a span of three years from 2016-17 to 2018-19. In this period, the government will spend around Rs. 81,795 crore in the implementation process and the construction process of the scheme. Of this estimated expenditure, around Rs. 60,000 will be allocated in the budget of the government and the remaining amount will be collected through National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).For the implementation process of the scheme, the central government will be playing the major role, however, the state government will hover all the work of the scheme implementing in the state.For the construction of houses, both central and state government shared the assistance amount at the ratio of 60:40 in plain areas and 90:10 for north-eastern and hilly states.The beneficiaries for the scheme will be chosen from the data taken from Socio-Economic Caste Census of 2011. For the construction of house under this scheme, the government will provide an assistance of Rs. Rs. 120,000 in plain areas and Rs. 130,000 in hilly areas.The proposed area of houses under the scheme has been extended by the government from 20 square meter to 25 square meter. Besides the house, the housing units will also comprised of cooking area.
