When I moved to Charlotte, NC two years ago I was worried about leaving the west coast, but I was excited for a new chance and new adventures. I eventually adjusted into my fresh area and town and began to see my surroundings. I relaxed in the lush greenness of my backyard and my area as I traveled to and fro. My woods, my woods, I had glorious woods in my street and everywhere I visited. I began to realize that train tracks appeared all over Charlotte, even crisscrossing downtown. I would go home in the evenings and rest on my back porch commencing to recline from the day and listen to the frogs and crickets making a cacophonous song. And then I noticed it;the low, long call of a coach horn. Something about a coach sound worked on my memories. I began to wonder about past times, and traveling in the Deep South, and the attitude of olden eras. I was surprised that a train would stir me so deeply. Now that I have resided in Charlotte for a number of years, I see it as my adopted community. The foliage are representative of the beauty of the locale, the insects are a nuisance that stands for a reality that living must have been difficult in the past of the community, but when I hear the train horns it represents the livelihood of the people. The locomotives were the system for moving the items produced by the factories in a landlocked area of the United States, and the method of transporting people in and out of the area so they could reach their dreams.
