华裔设计师刘扬曾经在2007年出版了《东西相遇》一书，引起巨大反响。该书用简洁的笔画，用简单明了的图画向读者表现了德中两个社会的细节，比如两国家庭对待孩子的态度，人们旅游的方式，双方的审美观等等。大部分都是人们的日常经历，让德中读者们都能引起共鸣。
