Musicians from around the world gather here for a three-day festival of modern and traditional jazz. This year the headline act was none other than Gypsy Kings frontman, Patchai Reyes and his new band, Gypsy Nouveau.Extreme Mountain BikingIf you like your cycling off-road and extreme, then the Three Valley’s Addict Tour: Mountain Biking Weekend in July could be exactly what you’ve been looking for. This two-day event covers some of the French Alps’ most challenging mountain biking terrain, with mountain trails and seriously intense forest tracks. Don’t forget your shock-absorbers!Bastille DayCelebrated all over France, the Three Valleys is not to be left behind when it comes to observing this national holiday on July 14. Expect street parties, pétanque competitions and an evening of festivities rounded off by stunning fireworks displays at most of the area’s resorts.Extreme Obstacle RaceThe Frappadingue Alp X’trem obstacle race, held in early August, may sound a bit bizarre but this is no kid’s fun-day. The course is 12km long and the 5,000 brave contestants must struggle over and across 40 extremely challenging obstacles to complete it. If you’re not brave enough to take part, then I would definitely recommend going along for a look.Whether you want to take part in some extreme fun or just want to enjoy the beautiful scenery and listen to some excellent live music, the Alps is the perfect location for a summer holiday.
