Like any American, traveling occasionally is just what I love doing and I bet you share the same stuff with me. But traveling does not mean that you would be safe. Escaping from our job and other stressful activities is just something that w Torres del Paine is among the biggest of Chiles national parks, occupying almost 600,000 acres (242,000 ha) of land in the south on the border with Argentina. It is also among the most important, receiving a significant proportion of domes
One of the best things about an activity holiday is the way it brings everyone together: sticking closely by each other through new experiences and sometimes through some difficult spots helps build the family into a strong, loving unit. With that in mind, you might want to tailor your holiday so that each part of it has room for a child friendly activity alongside fun activities the older members of the family. Working as a team is especially valuable for smaller children, who often feel pushed aside during important tasks, so an adventure holiday is a great opportunity to involve them in team activities. For Thrill-Seekers…If you and your family like to keep things fast-paced, and the kids are old enough, white water rafting is a great way to bring everyone together. It’s an adult and child friendly activity (although children will have to be old enough to paddle and be comfortable in the water). The fact that you’re all in the same boat, both literally and figuratively, helps to make this a perfect bonding activity: when the boat goes under, everyone gets wet together!Where to Do It?Canada is world famous for white water rafting. The Alsek and Tatshenshini rivers running through both Alaska and Canada, are good spots, and we’d also highly recommend Kicking Horse river. If you like your holidays a little less polar, Spain also offers plenty of world class white water rafting. Thanks to the great weather conditions almost year-round, there are various locations you can try this sport out. The Pyrenees is often lauded as the best one, but opportunities for white water rafting also pop up in both northern (Galicia) and southern Spain (Valencia).…Or at a Relaxed PaceHiking is another great child friendly activity. It’s good for older children who are able to sustain the energy required, as well as for the very smallest children who can be easily carried. Striking out into the wilderness with your family is a good way to bring everyone closer to nature, and is also a wonderful learning opportunity: plenty of trails offer the chance to see stunning local fauna as well as often-neglected flora.Where to Do It?For those who love hiking through unspoiled natural landscapes, Finland is a great choice. Especially recommended is the Urho Kekkonen National Park, which is notable for its natural beauty as well as its great biodiversity. With an almost unlimited number of possible trails in this wonderful landscape, you’ll pass through valleys, forests and marshes.Alternatively, Canada again makes the list as a top destination. Kejimkujik has to be the perfect all-round hiking destination: whether you like gorgeous surroundings, rich culture, historical sites, or rare wildlife, Kejimkujik National Park has it all. Kinney Lake Trail is another good Canadian hike, being fairly easy to manage and indescribably tranquil. If you’re lucky, you might even see a black bear!Something In-Between?If you’d like something a little more intense than hiking but perhaps slower than white water rafting, we’d recommend sailing. The fact that it takes a number of sailors to successfully crew the boat makes this great for the whole family. Giving the little ones a chance to learn all the right nautical terminology gives them a real confidence boost and makes this a wonderful child friendly activity.Where to Do It?Antigua is a wonderful place to visit full stop, and sailing the bright blue Caribbean Sea is every bit as idyllic as it sounds. Its coastline is rocky and rugged, and kids love pointing out all the hidden features of the coast. We’d also recommend sailing in the waters around Greece. With almost 2,000 individual islands, there’s plenty to explore, making a sailing holiday in Greece a truly exciting, varied experience. When you’re planning your adventure holiday, try your best to involve the kids in the choice of what to do and where to go. As long as they feel valued and included, you’d be surprised at what activities they might take to!
