Espace Killy and the Three Valleys are two of the best ski areas in France. However, when you're considering booking last minute ski holidays, you may be wondering which is the best option for your needs. Here is a guide to the resorts in both areas to help you decide which is right for your next ski break. What to Expect in Espace KillyEspace Killy is a very popular destination for last minute ski holidays, with many people choosing both short and longer breaks here each year. There are two resorts to choose from: Tignes and Val d'Isere.Tignes is a very high ski resort - in fact it is one of the highest in Europe at 2,100 metres. Because of this, it has excellent snow reliability so you will always be able to hit the slopes. However, many say it does not have the character of some of the other resorts in the Alps. As a result, it is perhaps more suitable for those people who are really just coming for the skiing rather than anything else. And the skiing is great - you can even go skiing at the Grand Motte all year round.Val d'Isere is another high resort, which is popular with advanced and intermediate skiers. It is usually considered a more attractive resort than Tignes, and you can travel between the two using the shuttle bus. The runs here are challenging, making them ideal for more experienced skiers, but there are also some excellent ski schools for beginners. It is quite a busy resort and the snow lasts right up to May. What to Expect in the Three ValleysThere are six ski resorts in the Three Valleys, and all of them are ideal destinations for those looking for last minute ski holidays. The resorts are: La Tania, St Martin de Belleville, Les Menuires, Courchevel, Meribel and Val Thorens. The biggest problem here is which one to choose! They are all great options in that they provide a range of slopes for all levels of skiers and they each have plenty of activities available as well.La Tania is one of the quieter resorts, making it ideal for families; Courchevel is a high resort and the highest village, Courchevel 1850, is known for being quite exclusive; Meribel is a great family resort with a lively après-ski scene; Les Menuires has excellent snow-making facilities; Val Thorens is the highest resort in Europe, so the snow is fantastic and the après-ski is also good; and, finally, St Martin de Belleville is one of the more traditional resorts, most suitable for intermediate and advanced skiers.Choose the Ideal Ski Resort for Your HolidayIf you're looking for some great value last minute ski holidays, you will find plenty of opportunities in both the Three Valleys and Espace Killy. There is no right and wrong when it comes to choosing from these excellent resorts, so simply choose the one hat sounds best-suited to your needs.
