Mother's Day is almost here. Have you made plans yet? Thrill your mom by taking her on a fun-filled tour of the Grand Canyon. There are lots of tour options with fun activities for your mom enjoy. Mother's Day falls on Sunday, May 11 and most all of the tours operate on the usual schedule that day. That's good because you'll have a good choice when it comes to times and types of tours. Since the mornings are no longer chilly, try to book your tour as early as possible. There are four ways to tour the canyon, chopper, plane, motor coach, and raft. Here's a little bit of information about these options. Chopper Tours Of The Grand CanyonYou can take a chopper tour out of Las Vegas in Nevada, or the airport in Tusayan in Arizona. The Tusayan, Arizona helicopters only fly to the South Rim and the Las Vegas tour helicopters only fly to the West Rim. The benefit of taking a helicopter tour of the West Rim is you can actually land on the floor of the canyon, this is not permitted on the other rims. An ideal tour for Mother's Day is the tour that lands on the canyon floor where you can enjoy a relaxing champagne picnic, and you can even add on a boat ride on the Colorado River or passes to the Skywalk. At the South Rim, you can opt for a 50 or 30-minute tour. Look for a deluxe tour that uses the EcoStar 130 helicopters. The South Rim tours have optional add-ons too such as a motorcycle or jeep ride. Grand Canyon Plane ToursThe plane tours also depart daily from Vegas and Tusayan. If you leave from Tusayan, you will only tour the South Rim, however, if you take a plane tour out of Vegas, you can go to either rim. When you take an airplane tour to the West Rim, you can do a flyover, or you can land on top of the rim, plus you can add on a helicopter ride so you can go down to the canyon floor. The airplane tour of the South Rim follows the same route as the 50 minute chopper tour, and takes you over the South, North, and East Rims of the canyon along with other notable landmarks such as the Dragoon Corridor. Touring By RaftIf you want to experience the best float tour of the Grand Canyon, you should go to the South Rim. These leave once daily from the Tusayan airport and go to Page, Arizona. If you prefer, you can go to Page by bus rather than flying. The fun rafting tour starts at the base of Glen Canyon Dam, meanders 15 miles down the river and ends at Lee's Ferry. The waters in this stretch of the river are calm and smooth so your mom will be safe, in fact, kids as young as 4 can go on these tours. If you take a raft tour out of Vegas, you start with a helicopter ride to the floor of the canyon then float 11 miles along the smooth water of the Colorado River from Hoover Dam to Willow Beach. The raft tour is a great way to soak up the sights and the sun, be sure to bring a swimsuit so you can take a dip in the refreshing water. Motor Coach ToursThe bus tours leaving from Vegas only leave once each day. These go to the South Rim and the West Rim. However, the West Rim tours offer the most fun options such as a helicopter ride to the floor of the canyon. Of course, you can add on a chopper tour to a South Rim trip too, but those helicopters can't land on the bottom of the canyon, they just fly across it. If you prefer a more personalized experience for your family outing, you can opt for a private van to transport your family rather than riding on a tour bus. To ConcludeAny of these Grand Canyon tours would be the perfect way to celebrate mom's special day. If you are close to Vegas or Arizona, you shouldn't miss out on the opportunity to take one of these exciting tours. Mother's Day tours are popular so book your trip now to lock in your seats.
