But traveling does not mean that you would be safe. Escaping from our job and other stressful activities is just something that w
The historic Plaza Theatre, located in the La Plaza shopping center in downtown Palm Springs, was renewed with life 1991, when the Palm Springs Follies opened providing matinee and evening shows that are a one - of - a kind experience. The Follies is a music, dance, and comedy show featuring the songs and styles of the 1940's 50's 60's and 70's, with a cast old enough, as they like to joke, to have lived it. Once the show begins, you'll see the youngest performers are in their 50s and the oldest holds a place in the Guinness World Records at age 84 in 2008 as the oldest still-performing show girl. The entire cast that includes a wide variety of ladies each with an impressive list of credits, move with grace and precision that reveals a polished teamwork in performance. What is even more stunning is those lovely ladies have legs that most women a third of their age would kill for and the dazzling and colorful costumes bring an amazing sparkle to the ensemble. Palm Springs Follies acts include production numbers, tap dancing, high kicks, juggling sessions, and a dog act. The stand up comedian/emcee who is also the show's creator, has fun by joking around about old age and the wisdom that comes with it. It is to be advised, however, that some of the jokes are not suitable for pre-teens and younger so please take that into consideration. A portion of the first hour is devoted to introducing each performer individually, allowing the audience to connect and become familiar with each. You will love the Palm Spring Follies once you appreciate their zest for life on stage. A lot of people do with admiration. And don't be surprised to see the theatre almost full to capacity on a Tuesday afternoon in February. It's a common occurrence. When prompted by the emcee, Riff Markowitz, almost half the audience raised their hands to say they'd been there before. Clearly these shows, which bring in a new lead each season, continue to draw people back time after time. The NY Times called the show "vital, vibrant, and sexy". The London Times described it as " a slick, professional extravaganza". And the Today Show said it was "dazzling". In all, I applaud the performers' enthusiasm and stereotype-busting vitality that reveals an inner self adoration for creativity that is not to be contained by age.You should make the follies a stop on your next Palm Springs vacation.
