Like any American, traveling occasionally is just what I love doing and I bet you share the same stuff with me. But traveling does not mean that you would be safe. Escaping from our job and other stressful activities is just something that w Torres del Paine is among the biggest of Chiles national parks, occupying almost 600,000 acres (242,000 ha) of land in the south on the border with Argentina. It is also among the most important, receiving a significant proportion of domes
On previous visits to leading cities in Europe, I've discovered an incredible amount about history and art, to take two examples. Although it's possible to gain information from books on such subjects, I don't believe that anything can compete with actually seeing places where history was made.A great example of this would be Rome, where it almost feels like you are stepping back in time. During my own school years, I remember learning about the Roman Empire. It seemed to me to be an incredible period in history, but the whole subject came to life when I was fortunate enough to see the Roman Forum for the first time. This also points to the fact that it's often a great way for children to learn. We know that kids will often respond best to an engaging teacher and it makes sense to think that they would often gain from having practical experiences, of the sort that can come from travel. Most obviously, visiting a different country offers a wonderful opportunity to improve language skills. I remember going on exchange programmes when I was at school and it was always amazing to see how quickly such skills could be developed, given the intensity of the experience. That's certainly something that has very much been remembered.I'm not suggesting, of course, that a holiday experience should simply be seen as an educational opportunity. In fact, I would really caution against the idea of creating some sort of formal learning framework around any trip. By doing so, you introduce an element of potential concern, which is likely to mean that you won't have a great deal of fun.But there's also a clear chance to learn new skills within a more favourable environment. This is certainly true in the case of scuba diving, which is one activity that is best conducted in warm, clear waters. You may simply not have access to such conditions close to your own home. Why would I suggest learning on holiday in this way? The advantage offered by conditions will certainly have an impact, but I primarily see this as being a fantastically fun thing to do. Ultimately, that's undoubtedly what travel should primarily be about. My own feeling is that we should always seek to encourage that element of fun.
