But traveling does not mean that you would be safe. Escaping from our job and other stressful activities is just something that w
If you own hotels then you have a lot of responsibilities on your hands. There are codes that need to be met in a variety of areas from the building to the food served at breakfast. While you are busy keeping up with these issues it might be easy to forget about some comfort and common sense issues that might affect your customers. The housekeeping is something that is very important to the customer. Although it is impossible for the owner to keep tabs on the housekeeping of every room, there should be someone who is accountable. When someone is cleaning a room between customers it would be easy to miss something that would shed a poor light on the business. It is important that a customer come into a room and feel like no one else has used it. Of course with age, carpet begins to wear, but things like bedding and sheets should be replaced as soon as they begin to show wear. Something else to consider is the washing of bedding. With the many diseases around and problems with bed bugs it would be wise to have the housekeeping wash all bedding including blankets and mattress pads and vacuum the mattresses with every customer. It might be extra trouble, but it will be worth it. If you choose to have this done, you could even have a card of some kind on the side table informing the customer that it has been done so that your housekeeping staff is accountable.Another consideration that owners of hotels should think about is the food offered. Some hotels will offer complementary snacks for guests when they arrive in their room. Others offer cookies and coffee by the counter. The complementary snacks are a great idea because customers are often tired and hungry when they arrive. The cookies and coffee are also a good idea too, but if they are offered it is important that the case actually contains cookies and that the coffee is hot. Most chains do a fairly good job at their breakfasts, but something else an owner could consider is adding a daytime snack counter with cereal, fruit, and a few other snacks that can be available to guests. The housekeeping and food at hotels are two areas that people probably think about first when choosing one. They might also want to be sure that the wireless and cable work, but the big one is likely going to be the housekeeping because no one wants to stay in a room that looks dirty or smells bad. As a hotel owner, you will benefit from keeping your staff accountable so that all areas of your business stay top-of-the-line.
