Like any American, traveling occasionally is just what I love doing and I bet you share the same stuff with me. But traveling does not mean that you would be safe. Escaping from our job and other stressful activities is just something that w Torres del Paine is among the biggest of Chiles national parks, occupying almost 600,000 acres (242,000 ha) of land in the south on the border with Argentina. It is also among the most important, receiving a significant proportion of domes
Over 35 million people visit the city of Las Vegas each year. A lot of folks come for the entertainment or gaming, and they spend most of their time on the Strip. Even so, a break is always nice. There is no better way to escape from the neon and bustle than to take a tour of the Grand Canyon. You might not realize the Grand Canyon is close by, and actually, the West Rim is only 120 miles away from Vegas. Choppers fly faster than 200 mph, so Las Vegas helicopters cover the distance in only 45 minutes! Air-Only Chopper Tours When you take a helicopter tour out of Las Vegas, you can choose from a landing tour or an air-only tour. The air-only type is cheaper and more basic, taking three hours total from hotel pickup to drop-off. During these flights you'll see Lake Mead, Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon Skywalk, among other sites. If you can't invest much time or money, but want a great overview of the region, then an air-only tour is your best bet. Helicopter Landing Tours Landing tours, on the other hand, give you a much more comprehensive experience and that's why I highly recommend them. Las Vegas choppers can land either at the top or the bottom of the canyon at the West Rim. On top of the rim, you can choose from many fun things to do, but don't miss the chance to walk out on the glass bridge known as the Grand Canyon Skywalk. The Skywalk is an amazing feat of engineering and is actually the largest glass cantilevered bridge in existence. It is comprised of 40 transparent panels and each one cost $250,000. The horseshoe-shaped sidewalk lets you walk 70 feet over the edge of the canyon wall and look down 4000 feet to the canyon floor beneath you! As I mentioned earlier, at the West Rim you can also take a chopper down to the canyon floor. When you go to the West Rim, you are lucky because that is the one location in the whole National Park where choppers are allowed to descend to the canyon floor. It is a very thrilling experience! Not surprisingly, this one is probably the most popular of all the Las Vegas helicopter tours. It takes about 15 minutes to make the descent to the floor of the canyon and you see amazing sights. When you get off the chopper, you are treated to a champagne picnic. You can also add on a float tour of the Colorado River while you are there. There's nothing quite like floating down the river with the canyon walls towering high above you. About Booking Your Seats I always urge folks to book early ? at least a week in advance ? because Grand Canyon air tours are so incredibly popular. That allows you to choose from the best flight times and tours. In my opinion, morning flights are best because there's less air turbulence and visibility is much better than later in the day. Finally, I've always found the best tour prices online. But book directly through the tour company - not at a "big box" travel site like Orbitz or Travelocity. Getting your tickets directly from the tour operator ensures you get the best service and lowest price. Article Tags: Grand Canyon, National Park, Choose From, Canyon Floor
