If it is history you are thinking about when cogitating your accommodation in Andalucia in Spain then it doesn't make any difference where you book your holiday, as Spain is rich in history. There have been many different cultures that have called these shores their home including the Christians, Muslims and Jews that are examples of the past and present religious part of Spain. This inevitably led to building a number of temples, monasteries, cathedrals and castles all over this country. As a result there are three places we will take into consideration: the first is the Alhambra in Granada which is a famous castle, the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona is a unique cathedral and last but not least is the Royal Palace in Madrid, the largest in Europe.When talking about cathedrals you couldn't find one more unique than the one in Barcelona: the Sagrada Familia. It was designed and built by the famous modernist Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi. Although construction started in 1882 it still continues to this day and is expected to continue for another decade. The symbolism involved in the towers will amaze you; of the 18 towers 12 represent Jesus's apostles, four are for the evangelists Matthew, Mark, Luke and John while the next to last one is reserved for the Virgin Mary alongside the tallest one for the man himself, Jesus. It's easy to recognize this as Gaudi's work with all the curved lines.Overlooking the most beautiful city of Granada is the unbelievable Alhambra Castle nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. This architectural wonder was built in the fourteenth century by the Moors. This massive castle consists of a number of palaces within its interior; it also has intersecting passageways all decorated with intricate carvings, mosaics and inlays. Any one of its numerous towers offers magnificent views over the area and the castle itself. The gardens with their reflection pools surrounded with flowers are simply nothing short of beautiful and when you add the fountains they become unbelievable.Be sure to schedule one of your accommodation in Andalucia stops at the largest palace in Europe which is none other than the Royal Palace in Madrid. Of the 2,000 rooms situated within the palace walls there are only 50 open to the general public but they will give you some idea of the opulence created at that time in history. The palace took 26 years after its construction started in 1738 for the first monarch to move in, which was King Carlos III, even though the palace wasn't to be completed for another hundred years. The palace was home to the royal family until political pressure in 1931 forced them to move out but the palace is still used for official functions.Where ever you plan to schedule your holiday make sure to at least visit one of these important architectural wonders.
