Torres del Paine is among the biggest of Chiles national parks, occupying almost 600,000 acres (242,000 ha) of land in the south on the border with Argentina. It is also among the most important, receiving a significant proportion of domes Like any American, traveling occasionally is just what I love doing and I bet you share the same stuff with me. But traveling does not mean that you would be safe. Escaping from our job and other stressful activities is just something that w
Now some may say you're a little bit on the weird side for going to the beach during your weekend break, but they really don't know what they're missing out on and need to think outside the box! You can take a break and use the time you have to take a long walk along the beach, which may sound mundane but it can give your mind a cleanse. Most of the time there are little or no restrictions for what you do on the beach during the winter months, so there are more options on the things you can do and less crows to laugh and watch your first unsuccessful kite jump... You'll also find that most beaches will be less crowded than in the summer and you can have the space and peace to really investigate the coastline. With all this extra space on the beach at this time of year, it's a great time to get some friends together and play some beach sports. Football on the beach, volleyball, french cricket, rounders or competitive frisbee! The choice is yours and you don't need warm weather for you to do this, however you'll probably find youself removing layers the more you run around and will be looked upon with wonder from the locals all wrapped up in fleeces! If you're not into sports then become an explorer! Something most people don't think of to do while at the beach is to either rent or buy a metal detector. What would you do this for? Apart from the chance to find that old pirates buried treasure, if you have kids, you can make a scavenger hunt for their pocket money (perhaps a little harsh!) or perhaps even just search for the treasure or little bits of history yourself. Many people lose things out of their pocket or you may find a really rare artifact that no one ever knew existed until you found it.Another classic beach activity that you can do, is to build a sand castle! During the winter months, the sand will be much easier to mold and keep together rather than the summer due to retaining moisture. This gives you the option of building an elaborate sand castle, the Taj Mahal perhaps?! This can be time consuming if you're being really detailed, but Rome wasn't built in a day. Build a moat, and then run some water to make it look really authentic. Make sure you take your time and even if you don't you can squash it and start all over again! In the winter months, if you're at a place that isn't entirely freezing cold, and you are braver than Fenrich the Fearless, then you can slip on a bathing suit and take a dip in the waters to get refreshed. Heck, it will certainly wake you up at the least. Most of the time during the day, the water will be slightly warmer than it will be at nighttime, so perhaps midnight winter skinny dipping isn't a good idea! If swimming is not your cup of tea at all, then you can either bury yourself in the sand or even go buy a couple of kites and take them out flying. Whatever you do, you can bet you will be relaxed by the end of the day, or certainly tired out! These are but a few of the things that you can do on any beach during weekend breaks. If you're inventive enough, you can come up with even more exciting things to do. Just put your mind to thinking and come up with endless possibilities. Relax and enjoy your time on the beach and before you know it you'll be having fun.
