Cultural EventsHosted by libraries, art galleries,cultural centers or organizations around the historic center, these events,which might include film screenings, musical or theatrical performances, are agreat way to start (or finish) an evening on a culturally rich note. Lounges and Live Music Cusco loves music and aninternational crowd of musicians pass through and look for gigs. Lounge stylecafes and restaurants with live music are a great way to start a night. Le Nomade on Calle Choquechaka is alaid back lounge that serves restaurants and has live performances almostnightly. On Thursdays, check out Maiz Koquita a local band that plays rock,funk, and bossa nova with lyrics in Quechua. Two other spots are 7 Angelitos and Nuna Machay both in San Blas also feature live bands and a chilledout atmosphere. BarsThe great thing about Cusco is thatthere are bars that look and feel like the ones at home. Think long bar, beeron tap, happy hour. If youre in the mood for this atmosphere and also lookingto meet other travelers, two bars right on the Plaza de Armas fit the bill. Paddys Pub has an excellent food menuand a neat atmosphere, while Norton Ratshas a nice balcony and a few TVs for sporting events. If instead you want torub elbows with locals, check out LaCarreta, which is just off Plazoleta La Merced, has a pool table, and beerspriced for a locals budget. A second is TeMacho which has a more darker atmosphere. ClubsThe dance clubs in Cusco get goingafter midnight, so start your night at one of the above and then head to one ofthese. Mama Africa has garnered fameas the place Cuscos hottest club. Mushrooms,one floor below, features electronic music and windows that overlook the Plazade Armas. When it gets going, Grooverivals any of Cusco nightclubs in energy, and is an excellent option if youwant to dance all night. Other top clubs include Inka Team and Ukukus, whichalso have live music earlier in the evening.
