In particular, this list can really help both visitors and locals to develop travel industry of the city, which is indisputable leader among tourism destinations of Paraguay. Hence, 6 of the sites are located closely enough to arrange a good excursion.1.Palacio de los López is to date a seat of Paraguayan government and, of course, The President. It was called to honor General Francisco Solano Lopez after was started as a house for prospective Paraguayan President in 1857. However, the process was interrogated by the death of Solano Lopez in 1870. In 1887 the next president John Gonzalez ordered to build it as a seat for national government.2.El Panteón Nacional de los Héroes is a square, where travelers can get acquainted with lifestyle of Paraguayans, buy some souvenirs in Guarani vendors, which work from early morning till the sun is down. It is a must-see place in Asuncion.3.El Museo del Cabildo is a former seat of National Congress. It has a nice facade, comprised with a statue of Asuncion founder Juan de Salazar y Espinoza and a beautiful garden in front of the entrance.4.The Cathedral was finally built in 1845. The key thing about this site is that it took 198 years to construct the cathedral (because of constant military actions and wars conducted on Paraguayan territory).5.El Hotel Guaraní (1961) occupies a large district of Asuncion. In particular, it has 13 floors with 19 guest rooms on each. Its architecture is much associated with Brazilian style of those times and even famous Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer was considered as its author. However, it was designed by Adolpho Rubio Morales, also Brazilian one.6.El Teatro Municipal Ignacio A. Pane is the building, which symbolizes the start of cultural and artistic breakthrough of the country. In particular, it was constructed in 1843 as the example of astonishing and breathtaking architecture. Up to 1855 it was a seat of National Congress. It was opened by Ildefonso Antonio Bermejo, known Spanish journalist and playwright at the time.7.Trinidad village was built in 1706-1760 on the hills on the hills overlooking a large bay of Parana, and is known as a major center of missionary work in Paraguay. In the early Conquest period thousands of Jesuit monks settled in the province and founded about fifty monasteries and colleges.
