American Museum in Britain TheAmerican Museum in Britain is located in Claverton Manor, Bath. It is locatedtwo miles south east of Bath City Centre and easily accessible from Somerset holiday cottages. The museum was opened in 1961 andwas conceptualized by Dallas Pratt and John Judkyn who wanted to show what theAmericans have achieved in decorative arts. There are a total of 18 periodrooms which depict the life of the Americans in the late 17th andthe mid 19th centuries. There are galleries that are devoted to FolkArt and American Indian. You will see galleries with silver, pewter, glass andtextile collections. There is atemporary exhibition every year and different programme of events prepared bythe museum management. Museum of East Asian Art The Museumof East Asian Art is housed in a restored Georgian building. The museum wasfounded by a retired solicitor who practiced in Hong Kong, Brian McElney. Themuseum has a beautiful and rare display of different things from all over EastAsia. These objects date back from 5000BC up to the present. This collection has Chinese ceramics and metal ware,Southeast Asian ceramics and Japanese lacquer. You can also see one of the mostextensive collections of Chinese jade which features intricately carved preciousobjects. Included in the museum are the best bamboo carvings in Europe.
