Lima is a city richin culture and history and though many only pass through Lima it is worthexploring. The historical center of the city was declared a UNESCO WorldHeritage Site; the center is home to several important buildings including theGovernment Palace, Cathedral and Archbishops Palace. After exploring the citycenter head to the San Francisco Monastery which is famous for its catacombswhere over 250,000 bones rest. After the day of exploring the city make sureyou rest up for the next days exciting trip to Ica.Day 2-3: Thedepartment of Ica holds a variety of different activities, on your first dayyou will head south on a 3 hour bus ride to the city of Pisco, Ica where youwill depart on a flight over the incredible Nazca Lines, which is another ofPerus UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The lines spread over 280 miles between theNazca and Ingenio Rivers and represent geometric shapes, humans, and animals. Yourhour flight over the lines will allow you to truly experience the entirety ofthe hieroglyphs. Your second day in Ica will take you to the Islas Ballestas.These islands are home to a variety of wildlife including sea lions, seals, penguins,and turtles, which all can be spotted during your comfortable boat tour. Afterthe morning on the water you will depart Ica and return to Lima for yourmorning flight to Arequipa.Day 4-6:Your fourth day in Peru you will fly to Arequipa where you will take a tour ofthe famous White City which sits at the base of the Misti volcano. Explore thecity and get some rest before the next days Colca Canyon tour. Spend the dayon a Colca Canyon tour, which allows you to view the highland landscapes andpre-Inca agricultural terraces found in this area. Spend the night relaxing inyour Colca Canyon hotel and get to bed early as you will be waking up at dawnto visit the Mirador Cruz del Condor. A sight to see on your Peru vacation, theAndean condor one of the worlds largest flying birds, will soar from thedepths of the canyon.
