The indigenous town of Infierno on the Tambopata River is one such Amazon community, located about 45 minutes downriver from Puerto Maldonado in the Madre de Dios region. Travelers here will learn about the Eseejas community, communal organizations that preserve indigenous knowledge, their culture and use of plants for medicinal and other purposes. From the community, travelers can embark on various tours and excursions.
