Jaipur is the capital of the Indian state of Rajasthan. The background of the Jaipur town commences with its foundation in the 18th century. Maharaja Jai Singh II was the creator of Jaipur City. He was born on 3rd November 1688 and when his father Maharaja Bishan Singh passed away on thirty first December 1699, he ascended the throne. When he became the Ruler, his age was just eleven.. He was known as Sawai Maharaja Jai Singh II, the title of Sawai offered to him by the Mughal ruler Muhammad Shah. Sawai indicates one and one quarter which means more than a single person. This particular name decorates all his successors. In historic times, Jaipur was a part of Matsya Kingdom. Kucchwaha Rajputs who had been ruling over the place in 12th century constructed the renowned Amber Fort. The Kingdoms of Mewar and Marwar that enclosed Udaipur and Jodhpur had been areas of Jaipur in those days. Maharaja Jai Singh II belonged to the family tree of the Kucchwaha Rajputs. The title Jaipur was offered by Maharaja Jai Singh II. Amber was his capital city initially. It was located 11 kilometers away from Jaipur City. Nevertheless because of safety reasons and water scarcity, he desired to construct a new capital city. The Brahmin scholar of Bengal known as Vidhyadhar Bhattacharya aided him to develop the town. As per his plans, the building of Jaipur began in 1727. The city of Jaipur got nine blocks overall. A couple of of these were reserved for stately structures and noble palaces. The other 7 blocks had been designated for the open public. Enormous fortification wall structures had been built around the city having 7 tough gates. The construction of this city was according to Shilpa Shashtra. The designer Vidhyadhar Bhattacharya referred the books of Ptolemy and Euclid and prepared his plans appropriately. The architecture was deemed as the excellent one, the finest in India at that time. It took 4 years for completing the whole construction of Jaipur. The instructions of the roads were east to west and north to south. The door in the east side was referred to as Sural Pol meaning Sun Gate, the entrance at its west side was called Chand Pol which means Gate of Moon and then the gate at the northern part had been referred to as Zorawar Singh Entrance. Immediately after completing the city, Jai Singh The second shifted his capital to Jaipur from Amber.Right after the demise of Jai Singh II in the year 1744, there were battles for power among his sons. The kingdom did not possess competent ruler and was open up to invasions. Sawai Pratap Singh evolved into the Maharaja of Jaipur City in 1778. He was only 14 years old at that time. In his reign of 25 years, he worked to the progress of this area. At the same time, he had to deal with continuous threats from Mughals and Marathas. He was succeeded by Sawai Ram Singh The second. He was a strong follower of Vaishnavism. He was also a social reformer and abolished slavery, sati and child infanticide. In 1853, Royal prince of Wales who later on became King Edward II visited Jaipur. As a token of greetings, the whole city was painted in pink color. This particular custom of painting in pink is retained from that time and the metropolis ultimately came to be called Pink City. You could find out this through the Jaipur photos and Jaipur videos.
