After Lima, Arequipa is probably the most modern Peruvian city and it also boasts some of the best dining options in the country. A good way to learn about the history and culture of this very nationalistic is by taking a city tour, which will take you to churches, museums, and markets.Days 2 and 3 will take you to the impressive Colca Canyon, 100 miles (160 km) from Arequipa, which plunges to twice the depth of the Grand Canyon at 13,650 feet (4,160 meters).
