The full marathon course heads out to Miraflores, winds down the coast from kilometers 15 to 22, heads back up to San Isidro, and then returns to San Borja from kilometer 34 to the finish. Travelers to Peru can combine this race with visits up and down the Peruvian coast. A laidback beach vacation in Mancora is a nice treat. Or, you can enter Cusco and visit Machu Picchu like a champ.Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Occurring in the middle of the Brazilian winter during the first week of July, runners can choose from 42K, 21K, and 6K distances. The 42K starts at Praia do Pontal; runners will reach the legendary Ipanema and Copacabana beaches starting at around kilometer 35, passing Sugarloaf Mountain at the 40K mark, and then the finish at Aterro do Flamengo. In addition to being a great way to see Brazils most famous beaches, travelers can combine this race with tours of the Marvelous City. For further post-race relaxation, the laidback town of Buzios, which features 20 amazing beaches, is only a 2-hour drive from Rio.Buenos Aires, Argentina The gun that starts this full marathon goes off the first week of October, meaning that runners will enjoy spring temperatures. (The 21K is held in September). The race course is an out and back loop that stays pretty close to the coast, never veering far from Libertador and Av. 9 de Julio. The start and finish lines are in the Bosques (or parks) of Palermo. The course heads east on Libertador toward the center, detours to the Obelisk at kilometer 10, and goes down to San Telmo. There is a wide turnaround between kilometers 17 and 18, and then the course goes into Puerto Madero, then along the coast, past the airport between kilometers 31 and 34, and back to the Bosques for the finish. Combine this race with tours of the city, go up to Tigre for some riverside relaxation, see the waterfalls in Iguazu, or triumphantly climb glaciers in Patagonia.
