Here below is a small sample of what you can expect to fine on your sojourn in this place rich in cultural heritage.Torres De Serranos or as it is officially known Torres del Serrans in Valencian are the largest Gothic towers in all of Europe. These towers served as one of the twelve original gates guarding the medieval wall city of Valencia. There are two schools of thought as to how the towers got its name. The first thought is its location in the wall connecting it with the road leading to Los Serranos and the other one is it was named after the main family that lived in the street named after him. This tower was built in the 14th century using a Gothic design. Its design was a basic pentagon shape with hallways interconnecting the different rooms. Some historians say the tower was originally built as a prison for the local population, whatever it was built for today its makes for an excellent viewing platform for the surrounding area.The next stop on our journey through Valencia is the Central Market, a great place to stock up your holiday villa. You can buy anything from seafood to fruits and meats to sausages, not only do they sell their products to individuals they also supply restaurants. This place exudes charm in its history, architecture and tradition that you can feel just by walking around it. This modernist building was built in 1914 by Francese Guardia and Alexandre Soler. These individuals received their training at the School of Architecture in Barcelona and influenced by Domenech I Montaner who used his unique style of modernism. In 2004 the market was completely renovated as an updated market and other facilities.The next to last stop of this journey of enlightenment is the Almudin. Built in the 16th century this vast structure was used as a storage house for the entire crop of wheat enough to supply the whole of Valencia. Built where a mosque once stood, today it is an exhibition centre and museum and in 1969 it was declared a national monument. Within the Almudin are mural paintings that depict the daily activities of the local people from days of old.
