Like any American, traveling occasionally is just what I love doing and I bet you share the same stuff with me. But traveling does not mean that you would be safe. Escaping from our job and other stressful activities is just something that w Torres del Paine is among the biggest of Chiles national parks, occupying almost 600,000 acres (242,000 ha) of land in the south on the border with Argentina. It is also among the most important, receiving a significant proportion of domes
Lanzarote is one of the main tourist islands in the Canary Islands. It offers year round heat due to it being close to the west coast of Africa. This also provides what locals call the "Saharan Winds" that blow over from the Sahara desert. All this couples with the exceptional beaches and warm seas makes it obvious why Lanzarote holidays are so popular. As with me, Lanzarote is a destination that people always return to year after year. Here are some of my personal highlights that have made my holidays memorable. Cueva de los VerdesLanzarote is a volcanic island, the Cueva de los Verdes were created from an eruption over 3000 years ago at La Corona. The main feature of these caves is the colour the walls take on, and it is because of its Green tint that it gained its name Cueva de los Verdes or Green Caves in English. On touring the caves you will be stunned at how the calm water in some sections of the caves deceive you as it becomes so mirror like. It is only on breaking the water that you can see this deception. Jameos del AguaLocated quite near to Cueva de los Verdes is a nice surprise. Jameos del Agua is a volcanic forms cave. Jameo refers to a cave with a collapsed roof. This complex looks completely tropical, with its white sand, turquoise pools and palm trees it is a must to visit and relax here.Timanfaya National Park Timanfaya National Park is 51sq kilometres of volcanic soil and landscape. The views that you will see at the park make you feel like you are on another planet, this place is unforgettable when you come here. Touring the park is an experience in itself. As you board the busses that take you around you are entrusting your life with the skilled drivers that know these very thin single track roads like the back of their hands. They weave you around craters up hills and take you to some of the best views that the park has to offer.A Meal Cooked by Volcanic HeatOne of the most "have to be there to believe it" moments in Lanzarote happens at one of final stopping points on the coach tours, a stop off at the Restaurant el Diablo. Prior to going into the restaurant the guides like to prove to you that this is an active volcano. There are 3 ways they do this. There is a natural cavity in the floor that goes down a fair way; the first experiment you see is the guide placing some straw into the cavity. After what feels like a few seconds the straw turns to flames, all this with the natural heat that is there just a few feet below us. At the next experiment you see a tube in the ground again it only goes down a few feet. Into this they pour some water, after 3 seconds the water and steam shoots out in a geyser like fashion. For the final trick you walk into the restaurant past a huge hole in the ground that has been converted to an oven, the natural heat that rises is hot enough to cook the restaurants food. You are allowed to look in and you can feel the heat of whats below. You have to move quickly in this room as they have installed metal floors, this makes it all seem very slippy when the whole time the soles of your shoes are slowly melting. Then you finally sit down for your set menu while watching the sun set over the view of the lava fields. This all adds to a very memorable experience that only going to Lanzarote can give to you.
