Like any American, traveling occasionally is just what I love doing and I bet you share the same stuff with me. But traveling does not mean that you would be safe. Escaping from our job and other stressful activities is just something that w Torres del Paine is among the biggest of Chiles national parks, occupying almost 600,000 acres (242,000 ha) of land in the south on the border with Argentina. It is also among the most important, receiving a significant proportion of domes
A great report in this week's Timesshows holidaymakers plunging into Devil's Pool, which is reputedly themost dangerous swimming pool in the world. As the Times reports "forthe thrill-seeker looking for the ultimate holiday snap....perched ontop of Victoria Falls on the edge of a precipice, 360 feet aboveoblivion with almost 40,000 cubic feet of water gushing past your earsevery second". As one partaker of this sport said, "it was better thanbungee jumping" and that "being in the Devil's Pool is a seriousadrenalin rush." If you intend to do this or any extreme activity forthat matter, then perhaps it would be wise to check that your travel insurance policy covers you before you dive in. Most, if not all, travel insurancepolicies, will exclude certain activities, known in the trade asHazardous Activities'. Swimming does not normally fall into thatcategory of course but an insurance provider might have a word to sayabout this particular swimming pool. It is very important to choose atravel insurance provider who tries to give as much information totheir customers on what activities are, or are not, covered and whatmay be done if the right procedures are in place and the correct safetyprecautions taken. So some good advice is to check your travelinsurance policy before you go away, and again perhaps, just before youjump in! Not that this should necessarily deter all but the fainthearted to try out what appears to be the ultimate in swimmingexperiences, up there probably with shark diving. But don't get toocarried away, not just by the strong current, as you may need to usethat travel insurance you bought after all.
