The historical city of Giza is a wonderland of Pharaohs and mummies. Giza is the third largest city of Egypt. It is located to the west of Nile near Cairo. Giza is most famous for its huge ancient structures build by Pharaohs. The great structures include pyramids, temples and Great Sphinx. Originally the name of archaeological site is Giza Necropolis. The pyramids are included in the Seven Wonders of the World and are a huge attraction for the tourists from all parts of the world. These are the oldest existing monuments of the world and are still intact in a good shape. The Pyramids of Giza consist of a largest pyramid called Great pyramid of Khufu, a slightly smaller pyramid of Khafre and the smallest pyramid of all three-the pyramid of Menkaure. All these pyramids are believed to be built for the kings they are named after. The Great Sphinx is on the eastern side of the complex and is believed to be built by King Khafre. It has the face of a human and body of a loin. The purpose of these huge pyramids was to keep the souls of great kings alive and equipped with material things they need in afterlife. The economy of the city is run by its tourism. Luxury apartments and hotels are built along River Nile and are popular places to live.
